Gotta Dance! A Three-Day Celebration of Dancing
- Event Date: Sunday, November 11, 2012
- Location: Knight Auditorium, Spurlock Museum, 600 S. Gregory St., Urbana, IL
- Cost: $5 for the afternoon
What better way to celebrate the exhibit A World of Shoes than with the whirling, twirling, and tapping of dancing shoes? This weekend will feature, in classic films and live concerts, a variety of dance performances. Feel the rhythm!
1:00 PM
Screening of The Tango Lesson (International, 1997). NOTE: Due to the movie's style and emphasis on adult themes, this movie is not recommended for audience members under 14.
3:15-4:00 PM
Tango demonstration and performance by Joe Grohens and Carlota. NOTE: Couples attending this performance may place their names in a drawing for a free, 30-minute tango lesson following the demonstration and performance.
4:15-4:45 PM
Tango lesson for drawing winners from the 3:15 PM tango demonstration/performance.
A World of Shoes and its associated special events are made possible in part by gifts from Dr. Allan C. and Marlene S. Campbell and the Spurlock Museum Guild, and it is sponsored in part by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
