Chinese Traditional Painters' Visit

A group of well-known Chinese traditional art painters will visit University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and exhibit their works on Chinese people, culture and landscape at the Spurlock Museum on April 1st. The exhibition includes 30 recent works (68cm x 68cm) of 15 individual artists. Among them, artists include MAN Weiqi, Director, National Professor Artist, Chinese National Academy of Arts; CAI Chao Dean, Professor, Calligraphy and Painting Institute, Nanchang University and two female artists, GONG Jianhua, Professor, School of Art, Harbin Normal University; TANG Xiuling, Professor and Dean, Shandong University of Technology Art College.

Their works will be on display on Friday, April 1 during the Museum's regular hours. An opening ceremony will take place at 10:00am in the Museum's Central Core Gallery with introductions by Wayne Pitard, Museum Director and Tim Barnes from International Programs and Studies. The afternoon will feature a live demonstration of painting will take place at 3:00pm in the Knight Auditorium. These events are free and open to the public.

Museum visitors are reminded that outside food and drinks are not allowed in the Museum. Backpacks and other large items brought to the Museum will have to be stored; there is limited locker storage space available for these items.
