"The long way home: Iraq, Afghanistan and Smalltown USA"

Department of Human and Community Development

Dr. Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth
Professor of Family Studies, Purdue University

Cities, towns and rural areas all over the United States are home to military families who have served and are continuing to serve their country. Families that have experienced separation, exposure to combat and other deployment-related events generally respond with great resilience, but there is much that friends, neighbors and communities can do to be supportive and helpful. President and First Lady Obama have called on every government department and every element of civilian society to respond to this challenge. Universities have an important role to play, in research, teaching and service.

Museum visitors are reminded that outside food and drinks are not allowed in the Museum. Backpacks and other large items brought to the Museum will have to be stored; there is limited locker storage space available for these items.
