Yu-Chen Wang and Han-Jui Chen, a Taiwanese virtuoso duo, present a program of recent works written for their unique combination of gu-zheng (Chinese zither) and double bass. The couple currently resides in Suzhou, China. Yu-Chen Wang performs with the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra. Han-Jui Chen is professor of bass at The Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China. The program will include works by Stephen Yip, Erik Lund, Yao Chen, and Yu-Chen Wang.
This event is part of a weeklong residency, sponsored by the George A. Miller Visiting Ensemble Program, School of Music, Spurlock Museum, Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies, and the Robert E. Brown Center for World Music.
