THRACE IS A HISTORIC REGION IN THE SOUTHEASTERN BALKANS CORRESPONDING TO THE GREEK PROVINCE OF THRACE, EUROPEAN TURKEY, AND SOUTHERN BULGARIA. THE REGION HAS HAD MANY RULERS INCLUDING THE OTTOMANS WHO CONQUERED IT BETWEEN 1361 AND 1453.
