ITALIC BLACK-GLAZE LEKYTHOS Shape and Ornament - Ovoid body, narrow neck with flaring mouth, strap handle. Joins of neck/shoulder and body/foot grooved. Handle lightly fluted. Grooved ribs on body. Dimensions and Conditions - H. 0.178 m.; d. body 0.101 m.; d. rim 0.044 m.; d. base 0.069 m. Fine tan clay, glossy black which continues inside neck. Traces of red wash. Glaze very worn and missing from about one-third of body and neck. Recovered in lower Italy. Campanian. Fourth to third centuries B.C. --Wisseman, Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum, Plate 62, 7.
