Description

This Greek coin is of unknown denomination from the ancient city Panticapaeum, modern day Kerch in the Republic of Crimea. It was perhaps stuck in the 4th century BCE. The obverse is a profile of Pan, the son of Hermes, messenger of the Greek gods. The reverse is a bow and arrow. Beneath the arrow are the letters ΠΑΝ (Pi Alpha Nu) denoting the coin as Pan’s.
